Faraz was one of the co-founders of Musicnow.com, acquired by AOL in 2005. During his tenure there, he pioneered the future of hardware technology infrastructure in streaming media technologies, which ignited his interest in exploring other domains of deep tech. Following several successful exits in deep tech in space, and robotics. Faraz took the step leveraging his extensive network of Limited Partners to establish a curated UHNWI syndicate under Giant Step Capital. His expertise in building global industry relationships, sourcing, due diligence, and securing early access to elite startups was evident in his involvement with Varda Space Industries during its nascent stages, founded by Delian Asparouhov (now a Partner at Founders Fund). Faraz played a pivotal role in securing allocations in Varda’s seed and subsequent funding rounds, gaining valuable insights into “new space” infrastructure and emerging opportunities in adjacent deep technology, years ahead of others’ discovery. His early support of pioneers in space manufacturing and robotics, achieving an impressive 71% realized Internal Rate of Return, and securing positions in highly competitive rounds. Early portfolio exits included transformative investments in companies such as (AgTech) Bear Flag Robotics, Spyce Robotic Kitchen, MadeInSpace, other co-investments include Cala Robotics, REGENT seaglider, Picogrid, Albedo Space, and more. In 2024 Giant Step Capital’s newly established deep tech fund, ‘Stardust’ - has now made substantial investments in breakthrough companies, including Perplexity AI, Varda Space, Aethero Space (edge computing and data centers in orbit), Lumina Tech (E construction), Cala Robotics (rapid robotics + food technology), Humanity Neurotech, Nucleus Genomics, Amidon Heavy (UUAV/Defense), MaxSpace, Stardust also lead the series A of AstroMechanica (supersonic jet engines), with co-lead participation from A16z and lowercarbon capital.
